I am writing to invite you to join me in the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Vulcan Society, FDNY. This is yet another milestone in the ongoing story of this great organization.
Whether you have been a member or just a friend of the organization you have played a part in writing the poem that is the 70th Anniversary. All too often we look at the great names of our organizations and never take time to understand that great names were made great by the actions of those we never hear about. For every Wesley Williams there is a Kelton Williams to answer the call and carry the banner. For every Dave Floyd there is an Elbert Washington to hear his message and become a true believer. For every Robert O. Lowery there is a Vinnie Julius who helped make it possible.Long before the organization opened its arms to women firefighters the Vulcanettes were soldiering for the cause.
The list of soldiers and their deeds stretches over 70 years and every positive, forward pushing contribution has been of undeniable importance in getting the Vulcan Society to this place in time. It is truly OUR-Story and June 4th. 2010 will be the night to celebrate Us…all of US!
I am respectfully requesting your presence, and I look forward to greeting each and every one of you from the longest serving Vulcan to the newest. I cannot wait to see our old friends who have been with us along the way as well as the new friends we will make.
There will be an abundance of living history in the room. With 7 past Presidents and members whose service extends almost back to day one. Do you want to miss those stories????
So, clear your calendar and make Antun’s your destination. Spend a weekend in New York with the Vulcan Society- your Family and Friends.
The Dance Reservation and Invitation are located here.
